Product Information

Full details

The Puma Deviate Nitro 4 is a high-performance trainer designed for adult male runners seeking a balance of speed and comfort on road surfaces. Featuring advanced NITROFOAM technology and a carbon composite plate, it provides exceptional energy return for both daily tempo runs and competitive race days. While it offers premium cushioning and a lightweight feel, users should note that its specialized design is best suited for neutral pronation, making it less ideal for those requiring extensive stability support.

FAQs

Are these shoes suitable for a marathon?

Yes, the Deviate Nitro 4 is designed for distance running and provides sufficient cushioning and energy return for marathon-length efforts.

What is the primary surface for these shoes?

These trainers are primarily intended for road running surfaces.

Do these provide stability for overpronation?

No, this model is built for neutral pronation. If you require significant stability features, you may want to look for a shoe specifically categorized as a stability trainer.

How often should I replace them?

While it depends on your intensity and body weight, most running shoes should be replaced every 300 to 500 miles to ensure the cushioning properties remain effective.

Is the fit true to size?

The Deviate Nitro 4 generally runs true to standard sizing; however, always measure your feet in the afternoon when they are slightly swollen for the most accurate fit.

Troubleshooting

Feeling pressure points on top of the foot

Try skipping the eyelet where the pressure is felt or adjust the lacing pattern to distribute tension more evenly.

Outsole losing traction in wet conditions

Ensure the PUMAGRIP surface is free from debris or caked-on dirt, which can block the tread pattern from making full contact with the ground.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Significantly improved energy return from upgraded foam technology
Lightweight design reduces drag and fatigue
Excellent grip across different road textures
Breathable upper prevents overheating

Cons

Designed specifically for neutral pronators
High stack height may feel unstable for some on very uneven terrain
Lace-up closure requires manual adjustment for the perfect fit

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure the best performance from your Puma Deviate Nitro 4 trainers, begin by loosening the laces fully and ensuring the tongue is centered before stepping in. Tighten from the bottom up to customize the pressure across your arch and ensure a secure lockdown. These shoes are built for adult male runners with neutral pronation requirements.

Care instructions are straightforward: to extend the lifespan of the NITROFOAM, avoid putting the trainers in a washing machine or dryer. Instead, wipe the engineered mesh upper with a damp cloth and mild soap if they become muddy. Remove the sockliner to air dry if they become saturated after a run in the rain. Avoid storing them in direct sunlight or extreme heat, which can degrade the foam properties over time.
