FAQs
Is this shoe suitable for trail running?
The Deviate Nitro 4 is primarily designed for road surfaces and track; while the PUMAGRIP is versatile, it is not optimized for technical trail terrain.
Does this shoe provide arch support?
It is a neutral trainer. It does not contain specialized medial posting for overpronation but offers a standard supportive fit for neutral runners.
How long will the foam last?
Typical lifespan for this type of performance foam is between 300 to 500 miles, depending on individual strike pattern and surface intensity.
Can I use custom orthotics with these?
Yes, the provided sockliner is removable to accommodate most standard orthotic inserts.
What is the weight profile of this shoe?
The Deviate Nitro 4 is designed to be lightweight to facilitate speed, though specific gram weight varies by the size of the shoe.
Troubleshooting
Feeling of slipping or instability
Check the lacing tension. Ensure the heel is locked into the back of the shoe to prevent movement within the mesh upper.
Outsole debris buildup
Use a small pick or compressed air to dislodge small stones from the grip pattern to maintain optimal surface contact.
Foam feeling firm after use
Ensure the shoe is not being stored in extreme cold, as foam properties can be affected by temperature; allow the shoes to reach room temperature before your run.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure the longevity of your Puma Deviate Nitro 4 trainers, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Break-in Period: While ready to run, a few shorter sessions will allow the foam to adapt to your foot shape.
- Cleaning: Use a soft-bristled brush to remove dried mud. Wipe the midsole with a damp cloth. Never machine wash or tumble dry.
- Drying: Air dry at room temperature away from direct heat sources like radiators, which can deform the foam.
- Storage: Keep in a cool, dry area. Avoid storing in humid environments to prevent material degradation.
- Rotation: If you run daily, consider alternating pairs to allow the `NITROFOAM` to fully recover its shape between uses.
