Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: Getting started with your Nike Pegasus Trail 5 Gore-Tex is straightforward. Use the integrated pull tabs on the heel and tongue to easily slide your foot into the shoe. Adjust the laces to achieve a snug, comfortable fit that secures your foot without feeling restrictive. Ensure the sock-like cuff sits comfortably around your ankle.
Compatibility: These shoes are primarily designed for trail running, making them compatible with a wide range of natural surfaces including dirt paths, gravel roads, rocky trails, and muddy terrain. The Gore-Tex makes them particularly suitable for use in wet and rainy weather conditions. While not specifically designed for road running, their cushioned nature allows for short transitions on pavement if needed, though continuous road use will wear down the trail-specific outsole faster.
Care: To maintain the performance and longevity of your Pegasus Trail 5 Gore-Tex, follow these care instructions:
- Cleaning: After a muddy run, gently brush off loose dirt. Use a soft brush or cloth with mild soap and lukewarm water to clean the upper and outsole. Avoid harsh detergents or machine washing, as this can damage the Gore-Tex membrane and bonding agents.
- Drying: Allow the shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not place them near direct heat sources (like radiators or in direct sunlight), as this can warp materials and degrade the waterproofing. You can stuff them with newspaper to absorb moisture and help maintain their shape.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Waterproofing: The Gore-Tex membrane is inherently waterproof. Avoid applying additional waterproofing sprays unless specifically recommended by Nike or Gore-Tex for maintenance of the outer fabric, as this is usually not necessary for the membrane itself.
