Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Lacing: When you first put on your shoes, ensure the lacing closure is snug but not overly tight. Start from the bottom and work your way up, pulling each section evenly. A secure fit is crucial for stability on uneven terrain.
- Break-in Period: While comfortable out of the box, allow for a short break-in period of a few runs to let the shoes mold to your feet and the React foam to fully adapt.
Compatibility
These shoes are specifically designed for trail running and are best suited for:
- Varied Trail Conditions: Including dirt paths, gravel roads, rocky sections, and muddy terrains.
- Wet Weather: The Gore-Tex membrane makes them excellent for damp or rainy conditions.
- Longer Distances: The React foam provides ample cushioning for extended trail adventures.
They are less ideal for:
- Pure Road Running: While possible, the aggressive outsole may wear faster on pavement and the shoe's design is optimized for off-road.
- Extreme Mountaineering/Technical Climbing: These shoes are trail runners, not specialized mountaineering boots.
Care
Proper care will extend the life and performance of your shoes:
- Cleaning: After a muddy run, gently brush off loose dirt. Use a damp cloth and mild soap (if necessary) to wipe down the upper and outsole. Avoid harsh detergents.
- Drying: Allow shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not use direct heat sources like radiators or tumble dryers, as this can damage the Gore-Tex membrane and adhesives.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Insoles: Remove insoles periodically to air them out and prevent odors.
