Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Your Nike Pegasus Trail 5 Gore-Tex shoes arrive ready to wear. Ensure you lace them up securely but comfortably, allowing for natural foot movement without excessive tightness. Experiment with lacing patterns to find the best fit for your foot shape and running style.
Compatibility
These shoes are optimized for trail running and hiking in diverse weather conditions, particularly wet environments. They perform well on dirt paths, gravel trails, forest floors, and rocky terrain. While they can handle some road segments, their outsole and cushioning are primarily tuned for off-road performance.
Care
To ensure the longevity and performance of your Gore-Tex shoes:
- Cleaning: After muddy runs, gently knock off excess dirt. Clean the upper and outsole using a soft brush or cloth and lukewarm water. For stubborn stains, use a mild soap. Avoid harsh detergents or bleach, as they can damage the Gore-Tex membrane and materials.
- Drying: Allow shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not place them near direct heat sources like radiators or in direct sunlight, as this can degrade materials and waterproof properties. You can stuff them with newspaper to absorb moisture and help maintain their shape.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use. Ensure they are clean and dry before storing to prevent mildew and odor.
- Waterproofing Maintenance: Over time, the outer durable water repellent (DWR) coating may wear off. If water no longer beads on the surface, you can apply a DWR treatment spray specifically designed for Gore-Tex footwear to restore water repellency.
