Setup, Compatibility & Care
Surface Preparation
Before applying Dulux Heritage Green Slate Velvet Matt Emulsion Paint, proper surface preparation is crucial for a flawless finish:
- Clean: Ensure walls and ceilings are free from dirt, dust, grease, and loose material. Use a sugar soap solution for thorough cleaning if necessary, then rinse with clean water.
- Repair: Fill any cracks, holes, or imperfections with appropriate filler. Allow to dry completely and then sand smooth.
- Sand: Lightly sand previously painted glossy surfaces to provide a key for the new paint. Dust off thoroughly.
- Prime: For bare, porous, or newly plastered surfaces, or if you are painting over a very strong color, apply a suitable primer or a diluted first coat of this emulsion (typically 1 part water to 10 parts paint) to ensure even absorption and adhesion.
Compatibility
This Velvet Matt Emulsion Paint is specifically designed for interior walls and ceilings. It is compatible with most common interior building materials, including plaster, plasterboard, and previously painted surfaces (provided they are properly prepared).
Care and Maintenance
The paint's washable feature makes maintenance straightforward:
- Cleaning: For light marks or dirt, gently wipe the painted surface with a soft, damp cloth and mild detergent. Avoid harsh abrasives or scrubbing vigorously, as this can burnish the matt finish over time.
- Stain Removal: Tackle spills and stains promptly for best results. Use a clean, damp sponge, blotting rather than rubbing.
- Protection: While washable, extreme wear or abrasive cleaning can affect the velvet matt appearance. Consider using in areas that don't experience constant heavy traffic or impact.
