Setup, Compatibility & Care
Getting Started
Upon receiving your Dr. Martens 1460 boots, you'll find them ready to wear.
- Lacing: Loosen the laces sufficiently to easily slide the foot in.
- Using the Zip: Unzip the inside zipper fully.
- Wearing: Guide your child's foot into the boot. The branded heel loop can be used to help pull the boot up.
- Securing: Zip up the inner zipper first, then tighten the laces to achieve a snug but comfortable fit. Double-knotting the laces is recommended to prevent them from coming undone during play.
Compatibility
These boots are designed for kids and are suitable for a wide range of daily activities. They are perfect for:
- School Wear: Their durable nature and classic look make them appropriate for many school uniform policies.
- Weekend Adventures: Robust enough for outdoor play and comfortable for extended wear during family outings.
- All Seasons: While providing warmth, they can be adapted for different seasons by adjusting sock thickness. The boot height is approximately 11cm for a size 31, providing good ankle support.
Care Instructions for Patent Leather
The `Patent Lamper` leather used in these boots requires specific care to maintain its glossy finish.
- Cleaning: Wipe down regularly with a damp cloth to remove dirt and dust. For more stubborn marks, use a patent leather cleaner (Info needed: specific recommended cleaner for Dr. Martens Patent Lamper).
- Drying: Allow boots to air dry naturally away from direct heat sources.
- Shine Maintenance: To restore shine, use a patent leather conditioner or a silicone-based spray designed for patent finishes (Info needed: specific Dr. Martens recommended product).
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, ideally stuffed with paper to help maintain their shape. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or regular shoe polish, as these can damage the patent coating.
