Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Getting started with your Merrell Intercept Walking Shoes is straightforward:
- Lacing: Utilize the speed lacing system to adjust the fit. Begin by loosening the laces, insert your foot, and then pull the laces evenly to achieve a snug, comfortable fit without being too tight. Tie them securely.
- Break-In Period: While comfortable out of the box, a short break-in period on shorter walks is recommended to allow the shoes to fully conform to your feet.
Compatibility
- Terrain: Best suited for dry to moderately damp conditions on trails, gravel paths, and urban environments. Avoid prolonged exposure to heavy rain or deep puddles due to their non-waterproof design.
- Activities: Ideal for walking, light hiking, casual outdoor activities, and daily wear.
- Socks: Pair with moisture-wicking socks for optimal comfort and to help manage foot perspiration.
Care
Proper care will extend the life and appearance of your leather walking shoes:
- Cleaning: After use, brush off any loose dirt or debris with a soft brush. For stubborn dirt, wipe the leather upper with a damp cloth. For deeper cleaning, use a dedicated leather cleaner following product instructions.
- Drying: If shoes become wet, allow them to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators or direct sunlight, as this can damage the leather.
- Leather Conditioning: Periodically apply a leather conditioner to keep the leather supple and prevent cracking. Follow the conditioner's instructions for application.
- Odor Management: The built-in M-Select FRESH technology helps prevent odors. For extra freshness, remove insoles and air out the shoes after each use. You can also use shoe deodorizers if needed.
