Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Getting started with your Merrell Intercept shoes is straightforward:
- Lacing: Utilize the speed lacing system to achieve a snug and comfortable fit. Start from the bottom and work your way up, ensuring even tension.
- Putting On/Taking Off: The large heel tab is designed for easy pulling on and off, simplifying transitions.
Compatibility
- Terrain: Ideal for dry to moderately dry trails, gravel paths, urban exploration, and everyday outdoor activities.
- Weather Conditions: Due to their non-waterproof nature, these shoes are best suited for dry weather. Avoid heavy rain, deep puddles, or extended periods in wet environments to prevent discomfort and potential damage.
- Activity Level: Excellent for walking, light to moderate hiking, and casual outdoor use where superior traction and comfort are desired.
Care
Proper care will extend the life and appearance of your Merrell Intercept shoes:
- Cleaning the Leather: Gently wipe the full-grain leather upper with a damp cloth to remove dirt. For deeper cleaning, use a specialized leather cleaner and conditioner to keep the leather supple and prevent cracking.
- Drying: If the shoes become damp, allow them to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators or direct sunlight, as this can damage the leather. Stuffing them with newspaper can help absorb moisture and maintain shape.
- Outsole Care: Regularly clean the Vibram® outsole to remove embedded dirt and debris, which helps maintain optimal traction. A stiff brush can be effective for this.
- Odor Management: While M-Select FRESH technology helps, occasional airing out of the shoes and the use of foot powder can further enhance freshness, especially after intense activities.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use.
