Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup
No complex setup is required. Simply unbox your Merrell Intercept Walking Shoes and lace them up to your preferred snugness. For optimal comfort, especially with full-grain leather, it's recommended to wear them for shorter periods initially, gradually increasing wear time to allow the leather to conform naturally to the shape of your feet.
Compatibility
These shoes are designed for broad compatibility with various casual and outdoor activities. They perform excellently on hard surfaces like pavements, gravel paths, grassy areas, and are well-suited for light to moderate hiking trails. For the best experience, pair them with high-quality, moisture-wicking walking socks to optimize comfort and breathability.
Care Instructions
- Cleaning: After use, remove any loose dirt or debris with a soft brush. For more stubborn mud, wipe the leather with a damp cloth. For thorough cleaning of the full-grain leather, use a specialized leather cleaner according to its instructions.
- Drying: Always allow your shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources, such as radiators or direct sunlight, as these can dry out and damage the leather.
- Conditioning: Periodically apply a high-quality leather conditioner to the full-grain leather upper. This helps to keep the leather supple, prevents cracking, and maintains its natural appearance.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Using shoe trees can help to absorb moisture and maintain the shoe's original shape.
- Waterproofing (Optional): While the shoes offer some inherent water resistance, applying a water-repellent spray specifically designed for leather footwear can significantly enhance their protection against moisture in wet conditions.
