Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Getting started with your HOKA Clifton 10 is straightforward. Simply put them on and adjust the double-lace lock system to achieve a secure yet comfortable fit. Ensure the laces are snug enough to prevent your foot from sliding inside the shoe but not so tight that they cause pressure points. Taking a few steps or a short jog can help you fine-tune the lacing for optimal comfort and stability.
Compatibility
The Clifton 10 is primarily designed for road running and paved surfaces. Its plush cushioning and smooth ride are best suited for daily training, long runs, and recovery efforts. While durable, it is not optimized for technical trail running, track workouts, or highly dynamic, agility-focused sports. This specific model is a standard width; however, HOKA often offers wide (XW/EE) variants for those who require more room in the toebox.
Care
Proper care will extend the life and performance of your HOKA Clifton 10:
- Cleaning: Remove excess dirt with a soft brush (like an old toothbrush). For deeper cleaning, hand wash with mild soap (dish soap works well) and cold water. Gently scrub the upper and sole. Do not machine wash or dry.
- Drying: Allow shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct sunlight or heat sources (like radiators or tumble dryers) as this can damage materials and adhesives.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Remove the Moulded EVA Sockliner occasionally to air it out.
- Rotation: If you run frequently, consider rotating your Clifton 10s with another pair of running shoes to allow the cushioning to fully decompress and recover between runs.
