Setup, Compatibility & Care
Proper preparation and application are key to achieving the maximum benefits and longevity from your Dulux Weathershield Smooth Masonry Paint.
Surface Preparation
- Clean: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from loose material, dirt, grease, and mould. Use a suitable fungicidal wash if mould or algae is present.
- Repair: Fill any cracks or imperfections with a suitable exterior filler and allow to dry, then sand smooth.
- Prime (if necessary): For new, unpainted, or very porous surfaces, a suitable primer or a diluted first coat of masonry paint may be required. Consult product instructions for specific recommendations.
Application
- Tools: Apply using a good quality brush for edges and details, and a roller for larger flat areas.
- Coverage: A 5L can covers approximately 15 m² on average, but this can vary based on surface texture and porosity.
- Coats: Apply 2 coats for best results. Ensure the first coat is dry before applying the second.
- Drying Time: The paint is touch dry in a few hours and can be recoated in 4 hours.
- Mixing: Stir the paint thoroughly before use.
Compatibility
- This paint is suitable for use on exterior brick, concrete, pebble-dash, and render surfaces.
- It is not designed for surfaces continuously immersed in water or for floors.
Care & Maintenance
- Tool Cleaning: As it's water-based, brushes and rollers can be cleaned with warm soapy water immediately after use.

- Storage: Store the paint in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and frost, with the lid tightly sealed.
