Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Your HOMCOM Kettle and Toaster Set arrives ready for immediate use, as no assembly is required. Simply remove the appliances from their packaging and place them on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface in your kitchen, ensuring they are near a standard power outlet. For optimal performance and safety, allow sufficient space around both the kettle and toaster for ventilation.
Before initial use, it is a good practice to 'condition' the appliances:
- Kettle: Fill the kettle to its maximum level with cold water, boil it, and then discard the water. Repeat this process two to three times to remove any manufacturing residues.
- Toaster: Run the toaster on a medium setting (e.g., level 4) once or twice without bread. This helps to burn off any residual manufacturing oils, which may produce a slight odor initially.
Compatibility
This appliance set is designed for standard household electrical systems. The toaster is specifically engineered for bread slices up to 12L x 12W x 1.5Dcm. While the set is presented in a Beige colour family, other variants may be available to match diverse kitchen decors. Always ensure the power outlet used is appropriate for kitchen appliances.
Care and Maintenance
Proper care ensures the longevity and performance of your HOMCOM set:
- Toaster Cleaning: Regularly empty the removable crumb tray located at the bottom of the toaster. Pull it out, discard accumulated crumbs, and wipe it clean with a damp cloth. Allow it to dry completely before reinserting. For the exterior, wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Never use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or immerse the toaster in water.
- Kettle Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the kettle with a soft, damp cloth. For descaling (mineral deposit removal), fill the kettle with a solution of white vinegar and water (e.g., 1:1 ratio) or a commercial descaling agent, boil, and let it stand for 30 minutes to an hour (or as per descaler instructions). Rinse thoroughly several times with fresh water. Perform descaling every 1-3 months depending on water hardness. Always ensure the kettle is unplugged and cool before cleaning.
- Storage: When not in use, store both appliances in a dry, safe place. Avoid tightly wrapping the power cord around the appliance base to prevent damage.
