Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Before your first game or intense training session, it's recommended to *break in* your new Nike Zoom Mercurial Vapor 15 Elite FG boots. Wear them during light training sessions or for short periods around the house. This helps the Vaporposite+ upper and Flyknit collar conform to your foot shape, preventing discomfort and blisters. Ensure laces are tied securely but comfortably, allowing for proper blood circulation while maintaining lockdown.
Compatibility
These boots are designed *exclusively for Firm Ground (FG) surfaces*, which are natural grass pitches that are firm and not excessively wet or muddy. The stud configuration is optimized for grip and release on these specific conditions. Using them on artificial turf (AG), hard ground (HG), or indoor surfaces can lead to premature wear of the studs and soleplate, damage the playing surface, offer suboptimal performance, and potentially lead to injury. Always match your boot type to your playing surface.
Care
Proper care will extend the life and performance of your boots:
- Cleaning: After each use, *wipe down* your boots with a damp cloth to remove loose dirt and debris. For tougher mud, use a soft brush (e.g., an old toothbrush) to gently scrub the upper and studs. Avoid harsh chemicals.
- Drying: *Allow them to air dry naturally* at room temperature, away from direct heat sources like radiators, open flames, or direct sunlight. High heat can cause the materials to crack, stiffen, or shrink. Stuffing them with crumpled newspaper can help absorb moisture and maintain shape.
- Storage: Store your boots in a *cool, dry place* when not in use. A breathable boot bag is ideal for transport and storage, allowing air circulation and preventing odors.
- Avoid Machine Washing: Do not machine wash or tumble dry your football boots, as this can severely damage their construction and materials.
