Product Information

Full details

Designed for DIY enthusiasts and professional painters, these floor protector strips from The Dustpan and Brush Store offer a reliable way to safeguard carpets and hard flooring during decorating projects. The primary benefit is their ability to act as a physical barrier against paint spills and drips, effectively replacing disposable masking tape with a durable, reusable solution. While they provide excellent protection against liquid spills, users should note that they require manual repositioning as you move along the wall.

FAQs

How many strips come in a pack?

This product comes as a 6-pack.

Can these be used on carpet?

Yes, they are specifically designed to slide into the pile of a carpet at the skirting board.

Are these suitable for professional decorators?

Yes, they are durable enough for professional use and help reduce the consumption of masking tape.

How do I clean paint off them?

Use a damp cloth for wet paint or gently flex the plastic once the paint is fully cured to peel it off.

Can I use these on curved walls?

Because the strips are rigid, they are best suited for straight skirting boards and edges.

Troubleshooting

Strip will not stay in place

Ensure the angled edge is pushed fully into the gap; if the gap is too narrow, use a thin putty knife to gently widen the space.

Paint stuck to the surface

Allow the paint to dry completely, then gently flex the strip to cause the dried paint film to crack and peel away.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Reusable, reducing waste and long-term costs
Easy to clean after paint contact
Angled design fits tight gaps effectively
Durable construction suitable for professional use

Cons

Requires manual repositioning for long walls
Not suitable for vertical surfaces above skirting boards
Cannot be used on curved architectural features

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup: Simply align the strip with the edge of the floor and slide the thin, angled edge into the junction between the baseboard and the floor.
Compatibility: Suitable for use with carpet, laminate, vinyl, and wood flooring. Not recommended for uneven or stone floors where gaps may be too wide or irregular.
Care: Wipe the strips clean with a damp cloth immediately after use to prevent paint buildup. If paint dries on the surface, it can usually be flexed or scraped off gently due to the material's finish.
