Setup, Compatibility & Care
To maximize the life and performance of your ASICS Gel-Excite 11 shoes, follow these guidelines.
Setup: Achieving the Optimal Fit
- Lacing Technique: Ensure your shoes are laced securely but not overly tight. Use all eyelets to provide maximum support. A common lacing technique involves criss-crossing the laces and tightening them from the bottom up to achieve an even pressure distribution across your foot.
- Sock Choice: Wear appropriate running or athletic socks. Opt for moisture-wicking materials to complement the shoe's breathable mesh upper, enhancing comfort and preventing blisters.
Compatibility
- Foot Type: The ASICS Gel-Excite 11 is designed as a neutral shoe. This means it is best suited for runners with a neutral pronation (where the foot rolls inward normally) or mild supination (underpronation). It does not offer the additional support or motion control features found in stability shoes for overpronators.
- Activities: Ideal for training, leisure, daily wear, and relaxed running on asphalt paths and park trails.
Care & Maintenance
Proper care extends the lifespan and maintains the performance of your shoes.
- Cleaning: Gently remove dirt and debris using a soft brush or cloth. For stubborn stains, use a mild soap (like dish soap) mixed with cold water. Dampen a cloth and wipe the affected areas. Avoid harsh detergents or machine washing, as these can damage materials and adhesives.
- Drying: Always allow your shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not expose them to direct heat sources like radiators or sunlight, as this can cause materials to shrink, crack, or lose their shape. You can stuff them with newspaper to absorb moisture and help maintain their form.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use. Avoid storing them in damp environments to prevent mildew.
- Rotation: If you run frequently, consider rotating your ASICS Gel-Excite 11 with another pair of running shoes. This allows the cushioning to decompress and recover, extending the lifespan of both pairs.
