Setup, Compatibility & Care

Proper preparation and application are key to achieving the best results and maximizing the lifespan of your painted exterior.

Surface Preparation

• Clean: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from any loose material, dirt, or grease. Use a stiff brush or power washer for thorough cleaning.
• Repair: Fill any cracks or holes with a suitable exterior filler and allow it to dry completely.
• Prime: For highly porous or powdery surfaces, or if painting over a strong colour, a suitable masonry primer or diluted first coat of Weathershield paint may be necessary to ensure optimal adhesion and finish. > Info needed: specific dilution ratio for first coat if used as primer.

Application

1. Stir Thoroughly: Before and periodically during use, stir the paint well to ensure consistent colour and texture.
2. Apply Evenly: Use a high-quality masonry brush for edges and intricate areas, and a roller for large, flat surfaces. Apply in even strokes to avoid streaks and ensure uniform coverage.
3. Recoat: Allow a minimum of 4 hours drying time between coats. Two coats are generally recommended for best results and durability.

Compatibility

This paint is specifically designed for exterior masonry surfaces including brick, concrete, pebble-dash, and render. It is not intended for use on other surface types or for interior applications.

Care & Maintenance

• Cleaning Tools: As a water-based paint, brushes and rollers can be cleaned with water immediately after use.
• Painted Surface: Due to its durable and resistant properties, the painted surface requires minimal maintenance. For general cleaning, a gentle wash with water and a soft brush can be used if needed, avoiding harsh chemicals that might damage the finish.
• Storage: Store unused paint in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and frost, ensuring the lid is tightly sealed.
