The Swan Retro Square Sensor Bin requires 4 x AA batteries, which are not included with the product.

For the exterior, use a soft, damp cloth with mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners. For the interior, clean with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly. Keep the sensor eye clean with a soft, dry cloth.

This sensor bin has a generous capacity of 45 litres, making it suitable for most household waste needs.

While primarily designed for automatic sensor operation, you can generally lift the lid manually if needed. However, continuous manual force might affect the sensor mechanism over time. It's best to rely on the sensor.

You should use standard 45-litre bin liners. For best results, use sturdy liners that fit well and are compatible with a retainer ring system to prevent slipping.

The sensor typically activates when motion is detected within a range of approximately 10-20 cm from the sensor eye. This range can vary slightly based on lighting conditions and battery strength.

Check the batteries. Ensure 4 x AA batteries are correctly inserted and are not depleted. Replace with new batteries if necessary. Also, ensure the sensor eye is clean and free from obstructions. Avoid placing the bin in direct sunlight or under bright lights which can interfere with the sensor.

The lid is designed to close after 5 seconds of inactivity. If it's not closing, check for objects obstructing its path. If the issue persists after replacing batteries, ensure the bin's lid mechanism is free from debris. The closing speed is fixed and not adjustable.

Ensure the retainer ring is correctly installed and holding the bin liner securely in place. When placing the liner, make sure its top edge is fully wrapped around the retainer ring before pushing the ring back into the bin.

Even with a liner, odors can accumulate. Ensure you are emptying the bin regularly. For persistent odors, thoroughly clean the interior of the bin with warm, soapy water and a disinfectant. Allow it to air dry completely before replacing the liner. Consider using odor-absorbing pads if needed.
