Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Unpack: Carefully remove the bin from its packaging.
- Insert Batteries: Open the battery compartment (usually located on the underside of the lid) and insert 4 x AA batteries. Ensure correct polarity. Replace the cover.
- Placement: Place the bin on a flat, stable surface in your desired kitchen location. For optimal sensor performance, avoid placing it in direct sunlight or in a high-traffic area where unintended activations could occur.
- Prepare for Use: Insert a suitable 45-litre bin liner. Ensure the liner is securely fitted and does not obstruct the sensor mechanism.
Compatibility
This Swan Retro bin is designed to be a complementary piece within the Swan Retro collection. Its blue colour and vintage style are intended to match other Swan Retro appliances and accessories, allowing you to create a cohesive kitchen aesthetic. It functions as a standalone waste solution but truly shines when paired with its stylistic counterparts.
Care
- Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the painted metal exterior with a soft, damp cloth and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, which can scratch the finish. Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth to prevent water spots.
- Chrome Accents: Polish chrome parts with a specific chrome cleaner or a soft, dry cloth to maintain their shine.
- Sensor Area: Keep the infrared sensor window clean and free from obstructions (dust, debris, food splatters) for optimal performance. Use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe the sensor.
- Interior Cleaning: Regularly empty and wipe the inside of the bin with a disinfectant cleaner to prevent odors and bacterial growth. Ensure the bin is completely dry before inserting a new liner.
- Battery Maintenance: Replace batteries when the lid's operation becomes sluggish or stops working automatically. Remove batteries if the bin will not be used for an extended period.
