Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure your Phormiums thrive, begin by soaking the 9cm pots in water until the root ball is saturated before planting. Choose a location that receives full sun to partial shade; while they are hardy, foliage color is often more vibrant in brighter light conditions. Use high-quality, free-draining potting compost for containers to prevent the roots from sitting in stagnant water. During the first growing season, keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. In terms of care, these plants are largely self-sufficient. In late spring, you can remove any dead or damaged lower leaves to maintain the plant's tidy, upright appearance.
