Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions
To ensure you get the most out of your Karrimor Mount Walking Boots, follow these guidelines for setup, compatibility, and ongoing care.
Setup
- Lacing: Before your first use, ensure the laces are threaded correctly through all eyelets. Start from the bottom and pull snugly, but not too tightly, creating even pressure across your foot. Use a double knot for security, especially on long walks.
- Fit Check: Always try on your boots with the type of walking socks you intend to wear. Your toes should have room to wiggle, and your heel should feel secure with minimal lift when walking. Walk around indoors for a few minutes to confirm the fit before heading out.
Compatibility
- Intended Use: These boots are primarily designed for outdoor walking, hiking, and general country pursuits. They excel on trails, varied terrain, and in wet conditions.
- Socks: For optimal comfort and moisture management, pair these boots with high-quality, moisture-wicking walking socks (e.g., merino wool or synthetic blends). Avoid cotton socks, which retain moisture.
- Gaiters: For very wet or snowy conditions, consider using gaiters to prevent water and debris from entering the boots from the top.
Care
- Cleaning After Use: After each adventure, brush off any loose dirt, mud, or debris from the upper and outsole using a soft brush. For stubborn dirt, wipe the boots with a damp cloth and a small amount of mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals or detergents.
- Drying: Always allow your boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Remove insoles and allow them to dry separately. Never place boots directly near heat sources (like radiators or fires), as this can damage the leather, adhesives, and waterproofing treatment. Stuffing them loosely with newspaper can help absorb moisture and maintain their shape.
- Waterproofing Maintenance: Regularly reapply a suitable waterproofing treatment specifically designed for leather and textile walking boots. The frequency depends on how often you use them and the conditions you encounter. Follow the specific instructions on your chosen waterproofing product.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight. Ensure they are clean and completely dry before storing to prevent mildew or material degradation.
