Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Initial Lacing: Fully unlace the boots, then put them on with your preferred hiking socks. Systematically tighten the laces from the toes upwards, ensuring a snug but not overly tight fit. Use a surgeon's knot at the instep for adjustable tension between the forefoot and ankle, then secure with a double knot.
- Break-in: Wear the boots for shorter walks around your home or local area before embarking on longer excursions. This helps the boots mold to your feet and reduces the risk of discomfort or blisters.
Compatibility
These boots are compatible with a range of outdoor activities including day hiking, hill walking, and general outdoor pursuits. They are best paired with moisture-wicking hiking socks to enhance the breathable properties of the boots and further prevent blisters. Suitable for men, size UK 10.5.
Care
- Cleaning: After each use, brush off loose dirt and debris. For tougher mud, use a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid harsh detergents which can damage the waterproofing treatment.
- Drying: Allow boots to air dry naturally at room temperature, away from direct heat sources (e.g., radiators, fireplaces), which can dry out and crack the leather.
- Waterproofing: Periodically reapply a suitable waterproofing treatment for leather and textile footwear, especially after extensive use or cleaning. Follow the product manufacturer's instructions for best results.
- Storage: Store boots in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, ideally with boot trees or crumpled newspaper inside to maintain their shape.
