Setup, Compatibility & Care
Proper setup, ensuring compatibility, and regular care will extend the life and performance of your HOMCOM Kettle and Toaster Set.
Setup
- Unpack: Carefully remove both the kettle and toaster from their packaging. Retain packaging for future storage or transport.
- Initial Clean: Before first use, wipe the exterior of both appliances with a damp cloth. For the kettle, fill it with water to its maximum level, boil, then discard the water. Repeat this process 2-3 times to remove any manufacturing residues. For the toaster, operate it empty on a medium setting a few times to burn off any new element smells; ensure adequate ventilation during this process.
- Placement: Place both appliances on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface away from water sources and flammable materials. Ensure sufficient clearance around the toaster for heat dissipation.
- Power: Plug both appliances into standard household electrical outlets. Do not use extension cords unless absolutely necessary, and ensure they are rated for the appliance's wattage.
Compatibility
- Power: Compatible with standard household electrical outlets (e.g., 220-240V in many regions, please check your local power specifications).
- Counter Space: Designed to be placed side-by-side or individually on a kitchen countertop.
Care
- Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior surfaces of both the kettle and toaster with a soft, damp cloth. For tougher stains, a mild detergent can be used, followed by wiping with a clean, damp cloth and then drying. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
- Kettle Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) can build up inside the kettle. Descale regularly using a commercial descaling solution or a mixture of white vinegar and water. Follow the descaling product instructions, or for vinegar, fill the kettle halfway with a 1:1 mixture of water and white vinegar, bring to a boil, let stand for 30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly multiple times.
- Toaster Crumb Tray: The toaster is equipped with a removable crumb tray. Empty this tray frequently to prevent crumb buildup, which can be a fire hazard. Ensure the toaster is cool and unplugged before removing and cleaning the tray.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, unplug and allow to cool before storing in a dry place. Keep cords neatly wrapped.
- Important: Never immerse either appliance, cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.
