Surface Preparation
Proper surface preparation is crucial for ensuring optimal adhesion and finish.
- Clean: Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from loose material, dirt, or organic growth (like mould or algae). Use a stiff brush or power washer for cleaning.
- Repair: Fill any cracks or holes with a suitable exterior filler and allow to dry.
- Prime (if necessary): On bare, very porous, or powdery surfaces, a suitable primer or stabiliser may be required. Always refer to Dulux recommendations for specific primers.
Compatibility
This paint is specifically formulated for exterior masonry surfaces including:
- Brick
- Concrete
- Pebble-dash
- Render
Application Tools
- Brush: For cutting in edges, corners, and detailed areas.
- Roller: For larger, flat surfaces, providing an even finish. Use a medium pile roller for masonry.
Application Steps
- Stir the paint thoroughly before use.
- Apply the first coat evenly with a brush or roller.
- Allow to dry for approximately 4 hours before applying a second coat.
- Apply a second coat for full colour depth and enhanced protection.
Care & Maintenance
- Tool Cleaning: Clean brushes and rollers immediately after use with warm, soapy water.
- Spills: Wipe up any spills or splashes immediately with a damp cloth.
- Storage: Store the paint in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and frost. Ensure the lid is tightly sealed.
