Setup, Compatibility & Care
Getting started with your HOMCOM Green Kettle & Toaster Set is straightforward. Proper care will ensure its longevity and performance.
Setup
- Unpack: Carefully remove both the kettle and toaster from their packaging.
- Placement: Place the appliances on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface away from water sources and flammable materials.
- Initial Cleaning (Kettle): Before first use, fill the kettle with fresh water, boil it, and then discard the water. Repeat this process 2-3 times to remove any manufacturing residues.
- Initial Cleaning (Toaster): Remove any packing materials from inside the toaster slots. Plug in the toaster and run it empty on a medium browning setting a couple of times to burn off any manufacturing odors. Ensure good ventilation during this step.
- Plug In: Connect both appliances to standard, grounded household power outlets.
Compatibility
- Power: Compatible with standard household electrical outlets (e.g., 220-240V for most regions). Info needed: Specific voltage/wattage if different.
- Space: Designed to fit comfortably on most kitchen countertops, requiring two separate power points.
Care & Maintenance
Kettle Care
- Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scourers.
- Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) may build up inside the kettle, especially in hard water areas. Descale regularly using a commercially available kettle descaler or a solution of white vinegar and water (1 part vinegar to 2 parts water). Fill the kettle, let it soak for 30 minutes (or as directed by the descaler), boil, then rinse thoroughly multiple times with fresh water.
- Storage: Ensure the kettle is empty and dry before storing.
Toaster Care
- Crumb Tray: Regularly slide out and empty the crumb tray located at the bottom of the toaster. This prevents crumb buildup, which can cause smoke or affect performance.
- Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or submerge the toaster in water.
- Interior Cleaning: Never insert metal objects into the toaster slots. Dislodge stubborn crumbs by turning the toaster upside down over a sink and gently shaking it, ensuring it is unplugged first.
- Storage: Always unplug the toaster before storing. Ensure it is cool and dry.
