Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Getting started with your Karrimor Mount Waterproof Walking Boots is straightforward:
- Lacing: Ensure the laces are threaded through all eyelets. Start from the bottom and work your way up. Adjust the tension evenly across your foot for a snug, supportive, but not restrictive fit. A double knot can prevent laces from coming undone during your walk.
- Socks: Always wear appropriate walking socks. These should be moisture-wicking and provide cushioning to maximize comfort and prevent blisters, especially during the initial break-in period.
- Break-in: Like most walking boots, a short break-in period is recommended. Wear them for shorter walks around your home or local park before embarking on a long hike.
Compatibility
These boots are suitable for a wide range of activities and conditions:
- Activities: Ideal for hiking, walking, trekking, casual outdoor use, and general country pursuits.
- Terrain: The rugged outsole provides excellent performance on various surfaces including dirt trails, rocky paths, grass, and light mud.
- Weather: The Weathertite waterproof/breathable membrane makes them suitable for wet and damp conditions, but they also offer breathability for warmer, active use.
Care
Proper care will extend the life and performance of your boots:
- Cleaning: After each use, especially in muddy conditions, brush off loose dirt. Use a damp cloth or soft brush with lukewarm water to clean the upper and outsole. Avoid harsh detergents.
- Drying: Allow boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not force dry them near direct heat sources (like radiators or fireplaces) as this can damage the leather and synthetic materials, potentially compromising waterproofing.
- Waterproofing Maintenance: Over time, the outer water-repellent treatment may wear off. Consider applying a suitable DWR (Durable Water Repellent) spray or treatment specifically designed for leather and textile walking boots to maintain optimal water resistance.
- Storage: Store boots in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, away from direct sunlight. Consider stuffing them with newspaper to help absorb moisture and maintain their shape.
