Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Setting up your Merrell Agility Peak 5 shoes is straightforward:
- Unpack: Remove shoes from packaging.
- Lace Up: Insert your feet, ensuring a comfortable fit. Adjust the lace-up fastening to secure the shoe without being too tight or too loose.
- Break-in: While designed for comfort out of the box, consider a few shorter runs to fully break in the shoes before a long event.
Compatibility
These shoes are specifically designed for trail running and are compatible with a wide range of natural surfaces including dirt, gravel, mud, and rocky trails. They are suitable for various distances, from short training runs to extensive ultra-marathons. While they can handle brief stints on asphalt, their optimized design is for off-road performance.
Care
Proper care extends the life and performance of your shoes:
- Cleaning: After runs, especially in muddy conditions, remove excess dirt with a soft brush or damp cloth. For deeper cleaning, use mild soap and water. Avoid harsh detergents or machine washing, as this can damage materials and adhesives.
- Drying: Allow shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators or direct sunlight, which can cause materials to shrink or crack. Stuffing them with newspaper can help absorb moisture and maintain shape.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use.
