Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup & Fit
- Proper Socks: Ensure your child wears appropriate socks, ideally moisture-wicking or thicker outdoor socks, when trying on the boots. This helps in achieving an accurate fit.
- Fitting: The fit should be snug around the heel but not tight, with enough room for toes to wiggle freely (about a thumb's width between the longest toe and the end of the boot).
- Lacing: Secure the laces firmly but comfortably. They should provide support around the ankle without creating pressure points or restricting blood flow.
Compatibility
These boots are highly versatile and compatible with various children's clothing for different activities:
- Outdoor Wear: Pair perfectly with waterproof trousers, hiking socks, and jackets for full protection during outdoor excursions.
- Casual Attire: Their practical design makes them suitable for everyday school uniforms or casual outfits, especially in cooler or wet weather.
- Activity Suitability: Excellent for school commutes, nature walks, light hiking, playground play, and general outdoor exploration.
Care Instructions
Proper care will extend the life and maintain the performance of your Regatta Junior Amble Boots.
- Cleaning (After Use):
- Wipe down the synthetic leather upper with a damp cloth to remove loose dirt and mud.
- For more stubborn grime, use a mild soap solution (like diluted dish soap) and a soft brush or sponge. Gently scrub the affected areas.
- Rinse the boots lightly with clean water, ensuring no soap residue remains.
- Clean the outsole by removing any trapped debris with a brush.
- Drying:
- Allow the boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources such as radiators, fireplaces, or direct sunlight, which can damage the materials, adhesives, and waterproof membrane.
- Stuffing newspaper inside the boots can help absorb internal moisture and maintain their shape during drying.
- Waterproofing Maintenance:
- While the ISOTEX membrane provides internal waterproofing, periodically treating the synthetic leather exterior with a suitable water-repellent spray designed for waterproof footwear can help maintain its 'Durable Water Repellent' (DWR) finish. This helps water bead off the surface and prevents saturation of the outer material.
- Storage:
- Store the clean, dry boots in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use. Avoid storing them in damp or humid conditions to prevent mildew.
