Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Your Salomon XT-6 trainers come ready for immediate use. The primary 'setup' involves adjusting the Quicklace™ Lacing System to your preferred fit. Simply pull the thin lace to tighten the shoe evenly across your foot, then slide the toggle down to secure it. To release, press the button on the toggle and pull the excess lace through. Ensure a snug, comfortable fit without being overly tight.
Compatibility
These trainers are optimized for ultra-distance trail running and extreme conditions. They are ideally suited for:
- Rugged, uneven terrain
- Technical trails with roots, rocks, and mud
- Steep ascents and descents
- Training runs or races in natural environments
They are less suited for purely road running due to their aggressive lug pattern and stiffer chassis, which are designed for off-road performance.
Care Instructions
To ensure the longevity and performance of your XT-6 trainers:
- Cleaning: After each use, especially in muddy conditions, gently brush off loose dirt and debris. For stubborn dirt, use a damp cloth and a mild soap. Do not use harsh detergents or put them in a washing machine, as this can damage the materials and bonding.
- Drying: Allow your trainers to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators or prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, which can degrade materials. You can remove the OrthoLite® Insole to help speed up the drying process.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Ensure they are completely dry before storing to prevent odor and mildew.
- Lace Maintenance: Periodically check the Quicklace™ system for any signs of wear. While durable, replacement kits are available if needed.
