Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions
Planting:
- Choose a sunny, sheltered location.
- Ensure the soil is free-draining. Amend heavy clay soils with grit or sand.
- Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and to the same depth.
- Gently remove the plant from its 9cm pot, loosen the roots if pot-bound.
- Place the plant in the hole, backfill with soil, and water thoroughly.
Compatibility:
This plant is compatible with most garden settings, including containers and borders. It pairs well with other drought-tolerant plants and architectural shrubs.
Care:
- Watering: Water regularly during the first growing season to establish. Once established, it is drought-tolerant but benefits from occasional watering during dry spells.
- Feeding: Generally not required. Over-fertilizing can lead to excessive foliage growth at the expense of plumes.
- Pruning: Cut back dead foliage and flower stalks in early spring before new growth appears. This prevents disease and encourages vigorous new growth.
- Winter Care: It is hardy but may benefit from a light mulch around the base in very cold regions to protect the roots.
