Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup
These boots are ready to wear out of the box. For optimal fit and performance, consider the following:
- Breaking In: Wear your boots for short periods during training sessions to break them in gradually. This helps the NIKESKIN upper mold to your foot shape for a personalized, comfortable fit.
- Stud Adjustment (Optional): The metal-tipped studs are designed for soft ground. If you prefer a different stud length or need to replace worn studs, a stud key (sold separately) is required. Ensure studs are tightened before each use to prevent loosening during play.
Compatibility
- Pitch Type: The SG Pro Anti-Clog soleplate is *specifically designed for soft ground (SG)*, which includes wet and muddy natural grass fields. They are ideal for conditions where mud buildup is a concern.
- Avoid: Do NOT use these boots on firm ground (FG), artificial grass (AG), or indoor courts, as this can damage the soleplate, studs, and potentially cause injury or poor performance. The Anti-Clog technology's effectiveness is optimized for soft, wet conditions.
Care and Maintenance
Proper care extends the life and performance of your boots:
- Immediate Cleaning: After each use, especially on muddy pitches, remove excess mud and dirt from the upper and soleplate. Use a soft brush or cloth for the upper and a stud key (if available) to clear any debris from around the studs.
- Rinsing: Gently rinse the boots with lukewarm water. Avoid hot water or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the NIKESKIN material and adhesives.
- Drying: Allow the boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct sunlight or artificial heat sources (like radiators or hairdryers), which can cause the material to crack or stiffen. Stuffing the boots with newspaper can help absorb moisture and maintain their shape.
- Stud Check: Regularly inspect the metal-tipped studs for wear, damage, or loosening. Replace worn studs promptly to maintain traction and safety. Remember, spare studs and a stud key are sold separately.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
