Setup, Compatibility & Care
To get the most out of your Nike Phantom GX II Academy SG Pro Anti Clog boots, proper initial setup, understanding their compatibility, and consistent care are essential.
Setup
- Inspect Studs: Before your first use, carefully check that all metal-tipped studs are securely fastened. While adjustable, they should be tight to prevent loss during play. A stud key (sold separately) is required for adjustment.
- Break-In Period: Like all high-performance footwear, these boots may require a short break-in period. Wear them for light training sessions or short walks to allow the material to mold to your foot shape before full-intensity games.
Compatibility
- Playing Surface: These boots are exclusively designed for soft ground (SG). This includes natural grass pitches that are wet, muddy, or otherwise soft.
- Avoid Other Surfaces: Do not use these boots on firm ground (FG), artificial grass (AG), or indoor surfaces. Using SG boots on inappropriate surfaces can damage the boots, the playing surface, and may increase the risk of injury.
Care
- Immediate Cleaning: After each use, especially on muddy pitches, remove as much mud and debris as possible. Gently tap the boots together to dislodge loose mud.
- Wipe Down: Use a damp cloth to wipe down the `NIKESKIN` upper and soleplate. For persistent dirt, a mild soap solution can be used, but avoid harsh chemicals.
- Anti-Clog Care: Periodically check the `Anti-Clog` soleplate for any embedded debris that might hinder its effectiveness. Clean thoroughly but gently to avoid damaging the specialized coating.
- Drying: Allow the boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not expose them to direct heat sources (e.g., radiators, hair dryers), as this can damage the materials and adhesives.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Consider using shoe trees or stuffing with newspaper to maintain their shape.
