Merrell - Moab Speed 2 GORE-TEX®

The Merrell Moab Speed 2 GORE-TEX® generally offers a standard fit. While some users find them accommodating, individuals with significantly wide feet may want to try them on in person or look for specific wide-fit versions if available.

For best results, wear the shoes for short periods around the house or on easy walks for the first few days. Gradually increase the duration and difficulty of your hikes to allow the cushioning and materials to conform to your feet.

It is not recommended to machine wash Merrell Moab Speed 2 GORE-TEX® shoes. Machine washing can damage the GORE-TEX® membrane, adhesives, and cushioning. Hand wash with mild soap and water as described in the care section.

The GORE-TEX® membrane is designed for durability. With proper care and cleaning, the waterproofing should last for the effective lifespan of the shoe. Avoid abrasive cleaners and excessive heat, which can degrade the materials.

The GORE-TEX® membrane provides waterproofing but also breathability. While improved over older waterproof technologies, they may still be warmer than non-waterproof shoes in very high temperatures. For extreme heat, consider a non-waterproof ventilated model.

The Moab Speed 2 GORE-TEX® is a lighter, more agile hiker, incorporating athletic trail running technology for enhanced speed and breathability. It features updated cushioning and a specialized Vibram TC5+ sole, whereas the original Moab is typically a more traditional, robust hiking boot.

Ensure laces are tied properly to maintain a secure fit and prevent water ingress. Check socks for any holes. If the issue persists, the waterproofing may be compromised; consider professional inspection.

Clean the outsole thoroughly as dirt and debris can clog the lugs. If the shoe is old, the rubber compound may have degraded; consider replacement.

Ensure the correct size is being worn. Try different sock thicknesses. For new shoes, allow a short break-in period. Adjust lacing to relieve pressure points.

Remove insoles and allow both to air dry completely between uses. Sprinkle baking soda inside the shoe overnight to absorb odors. Wash insoles separately if possible.
