Setup, Compatibility & Care
Getting Started: Your ASICS GEL-Cumulus 16 Trainers require minimal setup. Simply lace them up to achieve a comfortable, secure fit. Ensure laces are tied snugly but not too tightly to avoid pressure points.
Sizing: Running shoe sizing can differ from casual shoes. It's often recommended to go up a half size from your street shoe size to accommodate foot swelling during runs and ensure enough room in the toe box. Always try them on with your preferred running socks.
Compatibility: These trainers are primarily designed for road running and track activities. They are compatible with various running surfaces like asphalt, concrete, and treadmills. While they can handle light gravel paths, they are not intended for rugged trail running. Pair them with moisture-wicking running socks for optimal comfort and to prevent blisters.
Care and Maintenance:
- Cleaning: To clean, gently brush off loose dirt with a soft brush. For tougher grime, use a mild soap and cold water mixture with a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid harsh chemicals or machine washing, as this can damage materials and adhesives.
- Drying: Allow your shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not use direct heat sources like radiators or tumble dryers, as this can cause materials to shrink or crack.
- Storage: Store your trainers in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid leaving them in hot cars or damp environments, which can degrade materials over time.
- Odor Control: If odors develop, remove the insoles and air them out. You can also use shoe deodorizers or sprinkle a small amount of baking soda inside the shoes overnight (shake out before wearing).
- Lifespan: Running shoes generally last between 300-500 miles (approximately 480-800 kilometers) depending on your running style, weight, and terrain. Pay attention to signs of wear on the outsole and reduced cushioning performance to determine when it's time for a new pair.
