Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions
Proper preparation and care will ensure the best results and longevity for your Dulux Quick Dry Satinwood finish.
Surface Preparation (Setup)
- Clean: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from loose paint, dirt, grease, or wax. Use a suitable cleaner if necessary, then rinse thoroughly.
- Smooth: Fill any cracks or holes with appropriate wood filler and sand smooth. For previously painted surfaces, lightly sand to create a key.
- Dust-Free: Wipe down with a damp cloth to remove all sanding dust, then allow to dry completely before painting. Do not use an undercoat; this paint is self-undercoating.
Application Tips
- Stir Well: Always stir the paint thoroughly before and during use to ensure consistent colour and finish.
- Application Tools: Apply with a good quality synthetic brush or roller for the best results.
- Coverage: Aim for even coats. Two coats are typically recommended for optimal coverage and durability.
- Drying Time: Allow adequate drying time between coats. The quick-dry formula means this is usually just a few hours.
Compatibility
- Suitable Surfaces: This paint is compatible with interior wood and metal surfaces only.
- Incompatible Surfaces: Do not use on exterior surfaces, plaster, drywall, or other non-wood/metal materials.
Care & Maintenance
- Cleaning Painted Surfaces: Once fully cured (typically a few days), the painted surface can be wiped clean with a soft, damp cloth and mild detergent if needed. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scrubbing.
- Storage: Store leftover paint in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and frost. Ensure the lid is tightly sealed.
