Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Adjust the Hood: Pull the elastic drawcords to tighten or loosen the hood around your face, ensuring it stays in place and provides maximum coverage without obstructing your vision.
- Adjust the Hem: Use the drawcords at the hem to cinch the jacket snug around your waist or hips. This prevents wind and rain from blowing up into the jacket from below and helps to trap warmth.
Compatibility
- Layering: This jacket is a waterproof shell. For colder conditions, wear appropriate insulating layers (e.g., fleece, synthetic puffer) underneath. Its relaxed fit (Size 14) allows for comfortable layering.
- Backpack Use: The strategically placed high-set hand pockets are designed to be accessible while wearing a rucksack with a hip belt, making it highly compatible for backpacking and hiking.
Care
Proper care is essential to maintain the performance and longevity of your Stormcloud Waterproof Jacket:
- Washing: Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle using a technical cleaner specifically designed for waterproof breathable fabrics (e.g., Nikwax Tech Wash or Grangers Performance Wash). Avoid using conventional detergents, fabric softeners, or bleach, as these can damage the DWR finish and compromise breathability.
- Drying: Tumble dry on a low heat setting or air dry away from direct sunlight. Tumble drying on low heat can help reactivate the DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish. If water stops beading on the fabric surface after washing, you may need to re-apply a DWR treatment.
- Storage: Ensure the jacket is completely dry before storing it in a cool, dry place. Avoid compressing it for extended periods, as this can affect the fabric's integrity.
