Full details
The ASICS GEL-1130 is designed for adults seeking a blend of early 2000s retro aesthetics and modern athletic functionality. These trainers are ideal for those who prioritize daily comfort and structural support during urban commuting or light walking, though the synthetic leather and mesh construction means they are best suited for dry conditions rather than extreme weather or high-performance athletics.

FAQs
Are these shoes water-resistant?
No, the mesh inserts and construction are designed for breathability, not water resistance. Avoid wearing them in heavy rain.
Can I use these for marathon running?
While they are inspired by running shoes, the GEL-1130 is primarily a lifestyle sneaker and not intended for high-intensity competitive running.
How should I store them to avoid yellowing?
Store them out of direct sunlight and in a dry, ventilated environment to preserve the color of the white and grey materials.
Do these run true to size?
Generally, the GEL-1130 follows standard sizing. If you have wider feet, consider checking the fit carefully as the synthetic leather panels are less stretchy than pure knit uppers.
Can I replace the insoles?
Yes, the insoles are typically removable if you need to insert custom orthotics for personalized arch support.
Troubleshooting
Feeling of stiffness in the midsole
The TRUSSTIC support system is rigid by design to provide stability; the shoes will soften slightly with regular walking.
Difficulty cleaning the mesh panels
Use a soft-bristled brush to gently remove dust and debris before wiping with a damp cloth.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Excellent arch and heel stability for all-day comfort
- Versatile retro design that pairs well with casual outfits
- Lightweight construction suitable for long walks
- High-quality, durable synthetic leather materials
Cons
- Not intended for heavy-duty sports or cross-training
- Mesh material can allow moisture to penetrate in wet conditions
- Requires initial breaking-in period for optimal fit
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure your ASICS GEL-1130 trainers maintain their aesthetic and performance, follow these care guidelines:
- Initial Fit: Ensure the shoes feel snug but not restrictive. The mesh upper will naturally flex, but the leather panels provide a static fit.
- Cleaning: Wipe the synthetic leather surfaces with a damp, lint-free cloth. Use a mild soap solution for stubborn dirt on the sole.
- Drying: Never place your shoes in a dryer. Always air-dry at room temperature away from direct heat sources like radiators, which can warp the materials.
- Storage: Keep them in a cool, dry place. Using a shoe tree can help maintain the shape of the toe box when not in use.
