Drayton Lockshield - 15mm Angled

A lockshield valve is used to balance the flow of water through a radiator, ensuring even heating throughout a central heating system.

You will need standard plumbing tools such as a wrench, screwdriver, and potentially pipe cutters and fittings.

This depends on your system setup. Some installations may allow for the valve to be replaced without draining, but it's generally recommended to drain the system to minimize water spillage.

Drayton supplies a full range of accessories, including replacement lockshield valves. These can be found at most plumbing supply stores.

If you notice some radiators are hot while others are cold, or if rooms are heating unevenly, your system likely needs balancing.

The Drayton Lockshield is compatible with Drayton thermostatic heads. These are sold separately.

Inspect the valve periodically (e.g., once a year) for any signs of leaks or corrosion.

Check the lockshield valve setting. Ensure it's open enough to allow water flow. Bleed the radiator to remove air. Check for any blockages in the pipework.

Tighten the connections. If the leak persists, the valve may need to be replaced.

The valve may be seized. Try lubricating it with penetrating oil. If it still doesn't turn, replace the valve.
