Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Your Torrentshell 3L Jacket requires no complex setup. Simply put it on and adjust it to your comfort:
- Adjust the Hood: Use the drawcords to cinch the hood for a snug fit around your head, ensuring the visor keeps rain away from your face.
- Cuff Adjustment: Secure the hook-and-loop closures at the cuffs to prevent water from running down your arms and to seal out drafts.
- Hem Drawcord: Utilize the drawcord at the hem to cinch the jacket closer to your body, trapping warmth and preventing updrafts.
Compatibility
This jacket is designed as an outer shell, making it highly compatible with various layering systems:
- Base Layers: Wear over moisture-wicking base layers for optimal moisture management during active pursuits.
- Mid-Layers: Easily fits over fleece jackets or insulated vests for added warmth in colder conditions.
- Activities: Suitable for hiking, backpacking, camping, urban commuting, and other outdoor activities where waterproof, breathable protection is needed.
Care Instructions
Proper care will maintain your jacket's waterproof performance and extend its lifespan. Always check the specific care label inside your garment for the most accurate instructions.
- Preparation: Close all zippers and hook-and-loop fasteners before washing.
- Washing: Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with a small amount of liquid detergent. Do not use powder detergents, fabric softeners, or bleach, as these can compromise the DWR finish and membrane.
- Rinsing: Run an extra rinse cycle to ensure all detergent is removed.
- Drying: Tumble dry on low heat. The heat from the dryer helps reactivate the DWR finish. If line drying, ensure it's in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight.
- DWR Reapplication: If water stops beading up on the fabric surface, the DWR may need to be reapplied. Use a spray-on or wash-in DWR treatment specifically designed for technical outerwear.
