Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Lacing: Before wearing for the first time, fully unlace the boots. Slip your foot in, ensuring your heel is seated comfortably in the Formfit heel. Begin lacing from the bottom, pulling firmly but not overly tight. The extended lacing system allows for a tailored fit; adjust tension to your preference, ensuring a snug feel around the midfoot and arch.
- Break-In: Like most leather boots, a short break-in period may be beneficial. Wear them for light training sessions or walks before a full match to allow the leather to mould to your foot.
Compatibility
These boots are specifically designed for Soft Ground (SG) pitches. This means natural grass pitches that are wet, muddy, or soft. The stud configuration is optimized for maximum penetration and grip on such surfaces. Do NOT use these boots on Artificial Ground (AG), Firm Ground (FG), or Hard Ground (HG) pitches, as it can damage the studs, affect performance, and potentially lead to injury.
Care
Proper care will extend the life and performance of your leather football boots. Follow these general guidelines:
- Clean After Every Use: Immediately after playing, wipe off excess mud and debris using a soft brush or damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals.
- Remove Insole: If possible, remove the Ortholite sockliner after each use to allow the boot and insole to air out separately.
- Stuff and Dry: Stuff the boots with newspaper or a boot tree to absorb moisture and help maintain their shape. Allow them to air dry naturally at room temperature, away from direct heat sources (e.g., radiators, direct sunlight), which can crack or stiffen the leather.
- Condition Leather: > Info needed: Specific leather conditioner recommendations for this product. Generally, apply a specialized leather conditioner periodically to keep the leather supple and prevent drying or cracking. Follow the product instructions for the conditioner.
- Storage: Store boots in a cool, dry place. Using a boot bag can protect them from dust and scuffs.
