Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup
- Unpack: Remove your Birkenstock Gizeh sandals from their packaging.
- Adjust Buckle: Unbuckle the metal strap. Place your foot into the sandal, ensuring your heel sits comfortably in the heel cup and your toes rest gently on the toe bar without touching the front rim.
- Secure Fit: Adjust the buckle until the strap feels secure, but not overly tight. There should be a small gap allowing your foot to move naturally. Your foot should not slide forward excessively when walking.
Compatibility
The Birkenstock Gizeh, with its regular fit and unisex design, is compatible with a wide range of foot types and personal styles. It's an excellent choice for adults seeking comfortable, supportive footwear for casual wear, whether at home, during city strolls, or on light outdoor excursions. While primarily designed for warm weather, its minimalist aesthetic makes it versatile.
Care and Maintenance
Proper care will extend the life and appearance of your Gizeh sandals:
- Birko-Flor® Upper: To clean the Birko-Flor® material, simply wipe it with a damp cloth. For tougher spots, a mild soap solution can be used. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Footbed: The cork-latex footbed should be protected from excessive moisture and direct heat. If it gets damp, allow it to air dry slowly away from direct sunlight or heat sources. You can use a specialized cork sealant periodically to protect the cork from drying out and cracking (check manufacturer recommendations).
- Suede Leather Insole: For the suede oversole, a soft brush can be used to remove dirt and restore the nap. Avoid getting the suede excessively wet.
- EVA Outsole: The EVA sole can be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild soap if needed.
- General Tips:
- Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme heat, such as leaving them in a hot car or direct strong sunlight, as this can dry out and damage the cork.
- Store your sandals in a cool, dry place when not in use.
- Wipe down your sandals regularly to prevent dirt and grime buildup.
