These boots are best suited for day hikes and moderate trekking. For heavy backpacking with significant load-bearing, consider boots with more robust ankle support and stiffer soles.

Use a soft brush to remove dry mud. For caked-on mud, use a damp cloth with a small amount of mild soap and water. Rinse with clean water and allow to air dry.

The GORE-TEX® membrane offers waterproofing, but these boots are not insulated for extreme cold. They are suitable for cool, damp conditions but may not provide sufficient warmth for deep snow or freezing temperatures without additional thermal socks.

When trying them on, ensure there is about a finger's width of space between your longest toe and the front of the boot when your heel is pushed back. Your heel should feel secure and not lift excessively when walking.

'Mid' refers to the height of the boot, indicating it comes up to cover the ankle bone but is shorter than a full high-cut boot. This offers a balance between support and freedom of movement.

Ensure the boots are properly laced and that no water is entering over the collar. Check for any damage to the GORE-TEX® membrane. Sometimes, sweat can be mistaken for external moisture; ensure adequate ventilation and sock choice.

Clean the rubber sole of any mud or debris. The grip may be reduced on extremely slick surfaces like polished ice, where specialized footwear is required. Ensure you are using appropriate hiking techniques for the terrain.

Ensure you have the correct size and width. Consider using aftermarket insoles for personalized support if needed. Allow for a break-in period by wearing them for shorter walks before longer hikes.
