Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Initial Fit: When first trying on your Boston clogs, ensure your heel sits comfortably in the heel cup and your toes rest without touching the front rim. There should be a small gap around your foot.
- Strap Adjustment: Adjust the strap buckle over your instep to secure the shoe. It should be snug enough to hold the shoe on your foot without being too tight or restrictive.
- Break-in Period: While the Soft Footbed reduces this, allow a few days of intermittent wear for the cork footbed to fully mold to the unique contours of your feet.
Compatibility
These clogs are highly versatile:
- Casual Attire: Pair them effortlessly with jeans, cargo pants, shorts, or casual skirts and dresses.
- Loungewear: Excellent for comfortable wear around the house or for quick trips out.
- Seasonal Wear: Suitable for three seasons – comfortable in spring and autumn, and can be worn with socks in cooler weather.
Care
Proper care will extend the life and appearance of your Birkenstock Boston Suede clogs:
- Suede Protection: Before first wear, apply a high-quality suede protector spray to help repel water and stains.
- Cleaning Suede: For dirt or scuffs, use a dedicated suede brush to gently rub the affected area. For deeper stains, a suede eraser or specialized suede cleaning solution can be used. Always test in an inconspicuous area first.
- Footbed Care: The cork footbed can be gently wiped with a damp cloth if needed. Allow to air dry completely away from direct heat.
- Air Out: Regularly air out your clogs to prevent odor build-up, especially if worn without socks.
- Avoid Moisture: Keep suede clogs away from heavy rain and standing water, as excessive moisture can damage the suede and the cork footbed. If they get wet, let them air dry naturally, stuffed with paper towels to maintain shape.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use.
