Farrow & Ball School House White No. 291 is an ideal choice for homeowners and designers seeking a timeless, soft off-white finish that avoids the stark, cold look of modern clinical whites. Designed to feel familiar and nostalgic, it serves as the lightest shade in the brand’s specific neutral group, making it versatile for walls and woodwork alike; however, users should note that as an off-white, it will shift in tone significantly depending on the natural light conditions of the room.

No, it is a soft off-white designed to look like white in deep shade, carrying warm, nostalgic undertones.
While it is durable, the Dead Flat finish is best suited for low to medium-traffic living areas; high-moisture rooms may require a more specialized finish.
No, it is specifically formulated to be free of the cool, clinical blue or grey undertones common in other neutral paints.
School House White is the lightest in the group, while Shadow White and Shaded White are incrementally darker and deeper in tone.
Use a Farrow & Ball Wall & Ceiling Primer & Undercoat for the best adhesion and depth of color.
This often indicates inconsistent surface porosity; ensure the surface is properly primed and apply a uniform second coat.
Because of the flat finish, use a slightly damp cloth to gently blot the area rather than rubbing, which can burnish the paint.
Before application, ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free of loose debris. Prime new or porous surfaces to ensure consistent absorption. Use high-quality brushes or rollers, applying thin, even coats to achieve the desired finish. For care, avoid harsh scrubbing on the dead flat finish; instead, use a soft, damp microfiber cloth to gently remove dust or surface marks. When storing, keep the tin sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct heat sources to prevent the paint from skinning.
