Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Adjust Torso Length: Unfasten the hook-and-loop closure behind the AirScape backpanel. Slide the micro-adjustable sliding yoke up or down until the hipbelt sits comfortably over your hip bones, ensuring the harness straps curve naturally over your shoulders. Re-secure the hook-and-loop.
- Load the Pack: Place heavier items closer to your back and center, lighter items further out. Evenly distribute the weight.
- Fasten Hipbelt: Cinch the hipbelt so it's snug around your hips. Approximately 70-80% of the pack's weight should rest here.
- Tighten Shoulder Straps: Pull the shoulder strap adjusters until the pack sits close to your back, but not so tight that it lifts the hipbelt off your hips.
- Adjust Sternum Strap: Fasten the sternum strap across your chest, adjusting its height to a comfortable position. It should not restrict breathing.
- Use Load Lifters: Pull the small straps located above your shoulders (load lifters) forward to pull the top of the pack closer to your body, enhancing stability.
Compatibility
The Tempest 22 is designed for adult women and is highly compatible with a range of outdoor activities including:

- Cycling: Mountain biking, commuting.

Care
To ensure the longevity of your Osprey Tempest 22, follow these care guidelines:
- Cleaning: For general cleaning, hand wash the pack with mild soap and cold water. Use a soft brush or sponge to gently scrub soiled areas. Avoid using harsh detergents, bleach, or fabric softeners. Do not machine wash or tumble dry, as this can damage the pack's materials and coatings.
- Drying: Air dry the pack completely in a shaded, well-ventilated area. Avoid direct sunlight, which can degrade fabrics over time.
- Storage: Store the pack in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use. Ensure it's empty and clean before storing to prevent odors or mildew.
- Zippers: Periodically clean zippers with a small brush to remove dirt and lubricate them with a silicone-based zipper lubricant to ensure smooth operation.
