Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Your Regatta Amble Walking Boots come ready to wear. For optimal comfort and support, ensure you lace them correctly. Start by loosening the laces fully, then slide your foot in. Tighten the laces evenly from the toes upwards, securing them snugly but not too tightly around your ankle to allow for natural movement without restricting circulation. This helps to 'lock' your heel in place and prevent rubbing.
Compatibility
- Socks: Wear appropriate walking socks, preferably moisture-wicking synthetic or wool blends. Avoid cotton socks, as they retain moisture and can lead to blisters.
- Terrain: These boots are designed for various terrains, including trails, moderate hills, and paths. While they offer good grip, exercise caution on extremely slick or icy surfaces.
- Clothing: Pair with waterproof or water-resistant trousers for full lower body protection in wet conditions.
Care
Proper care will extend the life and performance of your boots:
- Cleaning: After each use, especially in muddy conditions, clean off any dirt or debris with a soft brush and warm water. For stubborn grime, use a boot cleaning solution suitable for synthetic materials. Avoid harsh detergents.
- Drying: Always allow your boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not place them near direct heat sources like radiators or open fires, as this can damage the synthetic materials and adhesives. You can stuff them with newspaper to absorb moisture and help maintain their shape.
- Waterproofing: While equipped with Hydropel technology, regular application of a water-repellent spray designed for synthetic footwear can maintain and enhance their water resistance, especially after cleaning.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight. Ensure they are completely dry before storing to prevent mildew growth.
- Inspection: Periodically check laces, stitching, and the outsole for signs of wear and tear. Replace laces if frayed.
