Setup, Compatibility & Care
Breaking In Your Boots
- Wear Around the House: Start by wearing your new boots for short periods around the house to allow them to conform to your foot shape.
- Light Training Sessions: Gradually introduce them to light training sessions on a firm ground pitch, avoiding intense drills initially.
- Proper Socks: Wear the socks you typically use for football to ensure the most accurate fit and comfort during break-in.
Compatibility
- Surface: These boots are designed exclusively for Firm Ground (FG) pitches. This refers to natural grass fields that are dry to slightly damp. Using them on Artificial Ground (AG) or Soft Ground (SG) can damage the boots and increase the risk of injury. Some pitches may be mixed, so assess the ground conditions carefully.
Care & Maintenance
To maximize the lifespan and performance of your Nike Mercurial Vapor 16 Elite FG boots, follow these care instructions:
- Clean After Every Use: Immediately after playing, knock off excess dirt and mud. Use a soft brush or damp cloth to clean the upper and soleplate.
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use strong detergents, bleach, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the materials.
- Air Dry: Stuff the boots with newspaper or paper towels to absorb moisture and help maintain their shape. Air dry them at room temperature, away from direct sunlight or heat sources (like radiators), which can cause the material to crack or stiffen.
- Store Properly: Store your boots in a cool, dry place. Consider using a boot bag to protect them from dust and damage.
- Check Studs: Regularly inspect the studs for wear or damage. While FG studs are generally durable, extreme conditions can cause wear.
