Surface Preparation

Thorough preparation is crucial for achieving the best results and ensuring the 'one coat' claim holds true. Always ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from grease.

• Previously Painted Walls: Sand off any loose or flaking paint thoroughly. Wipe the walls with a damp cloth to remove dust. If painting over a very bold or contrasting colour, apply a suitable basecoat first to ensure the new colour achieves its true shade and coverage in one coat. Without a basecoat, you may need an extra coat.
• Bare Plaster: Allow new plaster to dry completely for at least 7 days before painting. You *must* then seal the plaster using a basecoat or a dedicated plaster sealer. This prevents the plaster from absorbing too much paint and ensures an even finish.
• Bare and Previously Painted Wood: Lightly sand the wood with 120-grit sandpaper to create a key for the paint. Wipe away all dust with a damp cloth. Fill any holes or cracks with wood filler and treat any knots with a knotting solution to prevent resin bleed-through.
• Bare and Painted Metal: Sand off any loose and flaking paint, then wipe away the dust with a damp cloth. If painting ferrous metals (e.g., steel or cast iron), a specialist metal primer must be used beforehand to prevent rust and ensure adhesion.

Application Instructions

1. Stirring: Give your paint a really good stir before and during use to ensure the colour pigments are evenly mixed.
2. Mixing Tins: If you have more than one tin of the same colour, mix them together in a larger container. This guarantees colour consistency across your entire project.
3. Loading Applicator: Load your roller or brush with plenty of paint. Do not skimp on paint, as spreading it too thin can compromise coverage and finish.
4. Painting Technique: Always work from dry areas into wet areas, maintaining a wet edge to avoid lap marks. Avoid overworking the paint.
5. Coating: While designed for one coat, be mindful that very bold or contrasting existing colours may require an additional coat for full opacity. Apply the first coat generously but evenly.

Drying and Recoating

• The paint will be touch dry in 1 hour.
• If a second coat is necessary, wait 2-4 hours before applying it.
