FAQs
How long does a Likit Granola bar last?
On average, one 550g unit will last between 5 and 7 days, depending on the horse's persistence.
Does it contain any medication?
No, this is a grain-based treat designed purely for enrichment and mental stimulation.
Can I use this without a holder?
It is not recommended, as the product is specifically designed to be used with Likit hardware to provide the necessary resistance for the horse.
Is it safe for horses with metabolic issues?
Please consult with your equine veterinarian before introducing any new treats to a horse with specific dietary restrictions or metabolic conditions.
Where should I mount the Likit holder?
Mount the holder at a comfortable height for your horse, ideally away from corners or areas where the horse might get caught.
Troubleshooting
Horse ignores the treat
Try mounting the Likit in a different location in the stall or ensure the scent of the berry flavoring is noticeable.
Granola is being consumed too fast
Monitor the horse's interaction to ensure they aren't 'cheating' by pulling the holder off the wall, and consider using the Boredom Breaker for a greater physical challenge.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Significantly reduces stable boredom and stress
- Easy to install in existing Likit hardware
- Hard texture promotes healthy chewing habits
- Highly palatable flavor profiles for picky eaters
Cons
- Duration of use varies greatly by individual horse temperament
- Requires purchase of specific Likit holder hardware
- Not intended to replace regular forage or concentrated feed
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To begin, ensure you have a standard Likit Holder or the Likit Boredom Breaker installed securely in the stall at a height reachable by your horse. Simply unscrew the locking mechanism of your holder, slide the Likit Granola unit onto the rod, and secure it firmly. Keep the product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent the hardening agent from softening prematurely. Always check the holder daily to ensure it remains securely fastened to the stable wall and free from sharp edges or damage.
