FAQs
How long does a Likit Granola last?
On average, one 550g refill lasts between 5 and 7 days, depending on the horse's individual chewing habits.
Do I need a special holder for this?
Yes, you must use a Likit Holder or a Likit Boredom Breaker to securely mount the treat.
Can I give this to my pony?
Yes, Likit Granola is suitable for ponies, provided they have no specific dental concerns that would make eating hard treats difficult.
Does this replace a grain meal?
No, this is a treat for enrichment and mental stimulation, not a replacement for a balanced dietary grain meal.
Is it safe if they eat it too fast?
The product is designed to be hard and long-lasting to prevent rapid consumption, but you should monitor your horse's interaction during the first few uses.
Troubleshooting
The treat is being consumed too quickly
Ensure the holder is positioned at a height that makes it slightly difficult to reach, or use in conjunction with a Boredom Breaker for increased complexity.
The horse ignores the treat
Verify the molasses scent is still strong and ensure the horse has been introduced to the holder previously; some horses require a short 'learning phase' to understand how to interact with the toy.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Significantly reduces stable boredom and destructive behavior
- Long-lasting formula provides up to a week of enrichment
- Highly palatable flavor encourages consistent use
- Durable construction handles persistent chewing
Cons
- Requires a separate Likit Holder or Boredom Breaker for use
- Not suitable for horses with specific dietary restrictions regarding molasses
- Hard texture may not be ideal for older horses with dental issues
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To use, slide the Likit Granola refill onto the shaft of your Likit Holder or insert it into the center of a Boredom Breaker, ensuring the securing nut or end-cap is firmly in place. Compatibility is limited to official Likit hardware. For care, keep the treats in a cool, dry place to maintain their structural integrity; high humidity can soften the treat prematurely, reducing its lifespan. Once the horse has finished the treat, inspect the holder for any remaining debris or saliva before installing a fresh unit.
